Brief  Introduction

The Laboratory which is specialized in soil environmental sciences was established by Ministry of Environmental Protection in 2011. It serves the national environmental strategic needs and stands at the frontier of international soil environmental research. With the core mission to protect soil environment safety, the Laboratory carries out prospective and strategic researches on theories and practical technologies in the area of prevention and control of soil pollution. It provides strategic advices and technical support for the national soil environment protection. Its research field is one of the key subjects of science and technological innovation of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China.

Research  Facilities

The Laboratory has an office building of 200 m² and experimental labs of 400 m². It has established a field soil remediation technology experimental platform of 500 m² and a pilot demonstration base of 10,000 m² for integrated remediation of organic chemical wastes contaminated sites. The Laboratory is equipped with more than 80 sets of instruments including ICP/MS, GC/MS/MS, portable spectrometer, portable heavy metal detector and other equipment for soil environmental analysis and for rapid monitoring of contaminated sites.

Cooperation and Exchange

The Laboratory has carried out long-term cooperation and exchanges with the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Netherlands, the National Institute of Public Health and Environment (RIVM) of the Netherlands and the Environmental Remediation Company of Canada on protocols for deriving soil environmental quality standards, risk-based soil screening values, and development of soil remediation technologies / equipments etc. More than 10 experts annually went abroad for technical visits, exchanges and participation of international conferences. The Laboratory has also maintained good relationships with Nanjing Institute of Soil Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resource Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Peking University and other domestic academic research institutions.
